The last few weeks have been rough on my flock due to molting and cold weather. They are looking a little rough, but I noticed one of my hens is losing her balance when she is eating. I haven’t seen her fall, but she is wobbly. Her comb doesn’t look great either. I know she has bumble foot on one foot, but I don’t think this is causing this issue. Any ideas? I’m worried it could be Mareks. I have about 30 chickens. None of the others seems sick. I noticed about a week ago and she hasn’t gotten worse.

Is she still in molt? I would examine her for mites and lice on her skin, consider worming her with Valbazen 0.5 ml orally, and repeated in 10 days. A tonic such as Poultry Cell 2 ml daily might be good and give extra vitamins and riboflavin. Check her crop early morning before she eats or drinks, to see if it has emptied overnight. Lastly, offer her some high protein treats such as scrambled egg or tuna in addition to her usual feed.
