My wife went out to let the chickens out this morning and saw a terrible sight. Our flock leader, Persephony, (Rhode island red) was lying dead underneath the feeder. Apparently the wing nut on the bottom side came loose and it fell on her. I dont know exactly what happened but kids kids are a wreck today.

Tragic, but not the first I've heard of this. I have advised people to remove this wing nut and double nut it. This prevents it from backing out and ending with your situation.
