Wondering if he's just a variation on the IB theme.

    Greetings peapeople,
Meet Mr. Floppy. He lives down the hill, and only shows up at breeding time.
He has decided that it's breeding time now, and has barged in, is pushing the other guys around, and is displaying like crazy!

You'll notice that his facial marking is unusual - it's a bald spot from some old conflict I think, it's only like that on one side.
What I'm curious about are his blue-green shoulders; is that just a normal-type IB variation?
Since I've been wondering for years now, I just thought I'd ask...

What a handsome boy! Got to love the unusual white around his eye.

Since these guys free range, there's no way to tell who is whose poppa.
But I suspect that this fella is everyone's poppa! [IMG]
None of the other peas have those blue-green shoulders, though.
Here are a few more (not very good) pictures:

Looks like he is probably Spalding split to Blackshoulder. There is not doubt in my mind that he is spalding. I have seen other pics before on here labelling similarly coloured birds as Japanned peafowl.

Thanks for the responses. He's certainly the "big cheese" around here at breeding time.
I'm really surprised! It never even occurred to me that he might have some green in him.
These peas are the only ones I've ever spent time with, and I just assumed they were all 100% IB.
    What do I know??!!??

He's gorgeous! I wonder if there is anyway to guess his age hmmm

  10. Definitely Sp. split to BS. But I don't think much green blood.
