Yup, today is my first hatch day! I opened the incubator and sure enough, my first little peep of the year has hatched! There are about 8-10 eggs due today so I'll keep my fingers crossed that the majority hatch.

The tidal wave is just behind though......I think I have about 8 dozen eggs in the incubator all due to hatch in the next three weeks! 75% of them are black rosecomb, and about 25% beltsville turkeys!

It's going to be a busy Spring!

Congrats! Wow, you will be surounded by peeping in no time.

I too woke up to a little peep coming from inside the bator. A lone little Silkie chick was sitting there looking around. I now have 3 more white Silkies and a black Silkie (could be a rosecomb mix) almost all the way out of their shells and one just about to start breaking out. 2 standard eggs that haven't pipped yet. Today is day 20. This is the first hatch of 2009 for me [IMG]

Hope all our new arrivals survive [IMG]

Try not to open the incubator while they are hatching...let 'em fry off well...some people routinely wait to the second day after to take out or the hatcher/incubator...chilling the egg/lowering the humidity at this crucial point could give some problems?

Actually, today is also 'put more eggs in the incubator' day as well, not to mention check the humidity and water level. I can't see into my bator, so I have to open it to check.

Put 66 eggs in today [IMG] Boy am I a sucker for punishment!
