We got our first two eggs yesterday and another today! The kids are beyond excited. They want to go out every 15 minutes to check, lol.

The eggs came as a surprise because my chickens are only 16.5 weeks and I wasn't expecting them to lay yet. [IMG] I didn't have any nesting boxes in yet so I found one on the coop floor and one in the run. The kids and I put together a nest box (we had to use newspaper shreds as I was out of wood shavings - hope this is OK). They went on a search around the yard for a small egg-shaped rock to put in there. Today, when I went to peek at them, one chicken was in the nest box. We went out about an hour later and there was an egg!

Dunno if I can post pics, but I'll try. Here are our first two eggs along with a "large" white store-bought egg (for size comparison).

Could you get your chickens to talk to my almost 22-week old pullets who still haven't started laying yet?
    Congratulations! The eggs are beautiful!
