I have seen a lot of people lining their whole run with pine chip bedding. I have started to get a bit curious about doing something like this, especially now that it is starting to get a bit more rainy out.
My big question would be - How do the chips do in the rain?

what are the pros and cons of lining my run with wood chips???

All pro no Con's for rain.

Doesn't have to be pine chips, most aged, chunky wood chips will do just fine.

How do chips do in the rain? Well, this is my run floor after a night of heavy rains:

The run litter is surface dry, while the lawn beyond had puddles that remained throughout the day (note that I have very good underlying soil drainage to allow water to drain out once it filters through the wood chips.)

I use wood chips in my garden to do the Back to Eden method. As far as in my run, because I have a flooding problem, I throw the shavings from my coop to the run to help stop the flooding.
