I just had a large maple tree taken down and while I was cleaning up and cutting the bigger pieces I ended up with a large pile of wood chips. Is maple safe for the chickens?
    Thanks

I am doing the same thing right now in nest boxes. It is OK...just avoid the aromatic wood like cedar (although I do use some cedar chips in nest boxes unless chicks or broodies are there).

I would spread them around to dry before using them. They should be fine.

My husband cuts a lot of firewood and all our wood chips go in the coop/run. I'm pretty sure he did some maple trees last spring, no problems.
