Wood ducks or ringed teals nest

If i'm planning on making a nest for either wood ducks or ringed teals using a plastic bucket,what size should it be?

I'm still trying to get pics for ya...don't know how to get them loaded here from my I pad...lol.
I used a normal 5 gallon bucket I got from Walmart that had a forest print silkscreened on it. I then cut an opening ...have to measure...an folded a narrow piece of hardware cloth into a U for the ladder. My ring teal really liked sleeping in the wood shaving at the bottom......

That's awesome looking! I'm going to look for a bucket like that too- I want some little Teals for this year, so I'll get this for when I decide which kind...
