hay i was wondering if people prefer wood than metal or metal than wood in chook cages and why. I live in Australia and it is hot any opinions.

personally i prefer wood.

metal can get hot and is more prone to condensation imo.

plus rain hammerin on a metal shed sounds horrendoud.

personal choice but to me wood looks a lot better also

the only disadvantage to wood is it can harbor mites and other critters. But since your in Australia and all that heat, I would still use wood. Since it is soooo hot there, I would try to make one that the inside of two walls on the inside of the studs are covered in hardware mesh and then build the sheathing for the walls on hinges so you can drop the entire wall down on legs when it is really hot. Cool idea? (Pun intended) LOL
