If you are a fan of "World" music, and have iTunes or the Zune Marketplace, you HAVE GOT to check out Hossam Ramzy. He has an album called "Flamenco Arabe" and another called "Cairo Nights." It's basically middle eastern belly dancing jazz. It is GREAT!

I'm a smooth jazz/world music fanatic though, and enjoy a lot of stuff from other countries, so it may only sound good to me. LOL

Haven't listened to Yanni in some years, but I enjoy his music.

I really love Chris Botti (jazz, trumpet), and Habib Koite right now.

Chris Botti considered world music ? My girlfriend likes him, and I thought he was just jazz.
Have you seen Slum Dog Millionaire ? One of the artists on the sound track, A.R. Rahman has me looking for everything I can get my hands on by him.
Oh and lets not forget my favorite Indian DJ ever Pan'jabi MC.

    Lets see...

Some of the world genre artists I have in there now are:
    Hossam Ramzy
    Habib Koite
    Angelique Kidjo
    Youssou N'Dour

Some of the smooth jazz genre artists I have are:
    Chris Botti
    Boney James
    Candy Dulfer
    Harry Connick Jr.
    Diana Krall

Sting also did a 'world' genre album called "Together As One" and its rather nice.

I also like a lot of celtic type stuff, and Moya Brennan is one of my favorite. Lorena McKennett is really good too.

    PunkërTeçhñöRøø§ter :

Chris Botti considered world music ?

No.. Chris Botti is considered smooth jazz, but 40% of my Zune is world, the other 40% is smooth jazz, and the last 20% is chart topper stuff from the US.

Try Sting's "Sacred Love" album for a full-spectrum taste.

    Try Pandora.com

Free internet radio. You can create your own stations based on the songs you like and they add ones with similiar sounds. You can tell it what songs you like and don't like and skip songs.

They have premade stations as well.
