We found the perfect high-protein snack for our BAs--a shovelful of red wigglers from our vermicompost bin. I am sure that we have hit stationary phase in the vermicomposter as there are gobs of worms in there--a never-ending supply. My 1 and 4 year old like to take an old pizza pan and put a shovelful of worms and cover it with weeds and flowers and feed it to the chickens. They call it worm pizza!

Sounds like fun for the kids. My youngest loves to catch bugs and feed them to the chickens.

Just a quick thought though, I'd do a search on gapeworm. I don't really know much about it, but I believe they can get it from eating worms. I don't know if there is a specific worm or time of year that it is a problem though so you may be just fine.
