Wormer advice

I picked up a liquid wormer recommended and stocked by the local farm store and have treated the hens prior to their beginning to lay. Upon looking at the label, it states not to give to hens that are laying for human consumption - (is there any other kind of consumption?) Now I'm worried about giving it to them since they've started laying. The brand name is Wazine 17 - contains Piperazine Base as the active ingredient. Is it safe to give and then consume the eggs?? I appreciate the input and will take suggestions on alternate products. Thanks!!

Discard the eggs for two weeks, then you can eat them again.

I'd hold off on eating the eggs for a little while. Some of the pros on here can tell you just how long to wait.

The reason they tell you that is so that people will not eat the eggs or the meat of animals or birds when they have been wormed

it says that the medication is stored in the flesh and also the eggs

so that you will not eat them and people get sick from the medication

NOTE DO NOT FEED THE EGGS BACK TO YOUR CHICKENS

as the medication is in the egg and it take that much longer for you to be safe eating the eggs

wait 10 days or so after they have been off the medication
some medication says 48 hrs, but in my humble opinion that is not long enough

after medicating them they need some wet mash probiotic
do this
now the
natural probiotic recipe it is:
1 qt of dry feed crumbles
1-1/2 qt of milk, sweet, sour, or buttermilk or a mixture of all or some
1 cup of yoguart of non flavored yoguart ( no artificial sweetmer)
mix good

SINGLE CHICKEN
3 tbsp of dry crumbles
4 tbsp of milk
1 tbsp of yoguart
1 tbsp of apple sauce put on top of mixture for chickens taste

PUT 1 TSP per chicken OF APPLE SAUCE FOR THE WET MASH PROBIOTIC


twice a day for one wekk
them till the manure is solid and regular colored with white tip

and feed each chicken
3 tbsp full of the wet mash probiotic and what they will clean up in 20-30 minutes
then clean wet feeders and restock dry crumbles

feed this once a week for life of chicken

Also 2 tbsp of apple cider vinegar per gallon of the chicken water so their gut flora wil be regulated

they should have this at least 3-5 days a week
then three days aweek till once a week
