When we did our grocery shopping last night we bought Jax, our 8 mo. old GSD, an NBA regulation-size basketball.

He popped it before we could even finish putting the groceries away! [IMG]

We waited about 15 minutes before taking it away from him and found that he'd eaten a small piece of it.

He won't eat his breakfast this morning - not really unusual, he's not a big eater - but now I'm worried.

Please keep your fingers crossed that this too shall pass. [IMG]

We're on our way to the vet in a few minutes anyhow - to pick up flea meds, so we're going to mention this to her.

Glad you're going to the vet. I think he'll be fine if the piece is small, but can never be too careful.

Grits! I thought I told you to not waste any money on balls! 5 seconds is max amount of time one will last. Bingo eats Jolly Balls like they're candy. And I have spent a fortune on tennis balls, basketballs, soccer balls, you name it he's eaten it.

The good news is that all the bits eventually end up in the back yard! [IMG] Or on the bottom of your shoe.......

Ask the vet, but he's most likely going to be fine.

[IMG] for Jax. Since it was a small piece, IMHO, I think he will be ok. [IMG] to you

Laxtone or mineral oil is an option. Your vet will be your best advisor. I have little guys & they're always getting constipated. Be sure to get out of the way when he needs to go. [IMG]

If it was a small enough piece, he'll probably be fine. Luckily basketballs are relatively soft and should pass right through his system. Just keep an eye on him, but don't worry too much.
