Hello. I'm new to chicks and chickens. We have 6 chicks who will be 3 weeks old tomorrow.
The two speckled sussex ones are passing loose watery stools and I'm worried the chicks are sick. How can I tell? What do I do? Help I need some hand holding and advice!!
Also, the blue orphington sometimes sneezes. Is that ok??

I love these little sweeties and want to do right by them. I'm reading as fast as I can to try to educate myself
Thank you!

Loose stools happen. Sneezing isn't good though.
Most newbies (no offense) coddle their birds too much with too much heat and not enough ventilation.
Think about how a mother hen raises them. She provides a warm spot and lots of cool space and air.
Doesn't matter how you do it, it's the same process.

No offense taken, I am a newbie and I am that coddler!

The sneezing is infrequent and doesn't give me much cause for worry. It is the poo which worried me.
Thank you for answering!

Do either of you have any advice on a chick with pasty butt. A momma hen is raising them. I have cleaned her butt twice every day and her vent looks fine. It's just sticking to her and won't fall to the ground without my help. I put chick electrolytes in their water and I've been trying to feed them protein. They have chick starter crumble as well. Also, is it okay if the mother hen drinks their water too? They are 6 days old

The vitamins won't hurt the mother and is probably a good idea to give her a boost after her 3 week fast.
The pasty should correct itself in a couple more days.

I had to separate the pasty butt chick because she seems to be falling behind. She's not as big as the other chicks and she just wants to be under momma hen all day long! She does not seem as active as the other chicks either. I have her set up under a lamp and she has electrolyte water and chick starter in there. I was also feeding her egg yolk by dropping it on her beak to force her to eat. So far the pasty butt seems to be clearing.should she be sleeping this much? If the water is openly available, why doesn't she drink more of it????? First time with chicks so I'm not sure if she's behaving normal
