Does anyone know if a cross between a Blue Runner and a Cayuga would also be 'mules?' I have some ducklings like this.

Also, I have some ducklings that are half mallard half Blue Runner. Will they also be Mules?

No, they would be cross breeds or mutts. They will be fertile.

The only domestic mules would be muscovy/mallard derived crosses. Interesting enough mule hens will sometimes go broody and set on apples, rocks, etc.

Thanks friends for the answers. They are the *cutest*, the half-runner/half cayugas. I love that I have Mutt ducks.

Tia-I'll try to figure out how to post photos here.
Don't you LOVE your Runners? at first I thought they'd look funny, but I LOVE how my Blue Runner drake zooms across the yard to me. He even "kisses" me and nuzzles my hair. He's the BEST duck and I am glad to have his kids.

haha I thought I was the only one with such a wacky combo of ducks! I have chocolate runners (2 females) and Cayugas (2 females and 1 male). I would like to add blue runners and fawn and white runners, even a runner drake to breed babies but right now my drake has been so sweet I don't want to upset him. AND I really don't have a big enough house to add a bunch of babies to so I'm probably better off with not having a runner drake. [IMG]
