I have several different chicks that I am raising and since I'm not familiar with tell tale signs of "hen or roo", I know this was the best place to come to get help! They are 8 weeks old and I have 2 Blue Andalusians, 1 Easter Egger, 1 Rhode Island Red, and 1 Buff Orpington. I'll list them and put my guesses. 1. Rose - RIR - pullet? 2. Smoky - Blue Andalusian - pullet? 3. T Rex - EE - Pullet? 4. Cyclone - BO - Pullet? 5. Grey Goose - BA - Roo? Since there are two Blue Andalusian's the differences (not shown here since I didn't get a pic of Goose's legs) are also that Goose has thicker legs and lighter colored feathers. Thank you in advance!!! Susan
WOW! Those are some beautiful chickens! Rose is defiantly a pullet. Thanks for sharing their ages and lots of photos! Smoky looks like a rooster. He/she might have a big comb too. T-Rex looks like a pullet. What a cutie! Cyclone also looks like a pullet but I'd like to see what other people think. Grey Goose is a rooster. So handsome! Hope this helps!
Thank you so much!!! I'm hoping that both of the Blue Andalusian's (Smoky) doesn't end up a he. We aren't supposed to have roosters but we have a couple of homes that we can send them to if that's the case. Thank you again! p.s. I have some 6 week old chicks I'll post later - would love your input again!
My kids tried to get some tail pictures...out of 50 pictures, here are the best ones! Maybe they won't really help! I can try tomorrow! Rose - RIR T Rex - EE (the chicken running behind her is Smoky) Smoky - Blue A Smoky - Blue A Goose - Blue A Cyclone - Buff O Thank you again for your help!
Not totally sure about Goose. If his/her tail is the same length as smokey i would say they are all pullets. Love the names! So creative!!
I would guess all pullets. If Goose is a cockerel, he is slow developing. Nice names. "Cyclone" - that's unusual. I like it.
