Hi I was wondering what size feeder would be best for my seven hens they eat a quart size feeder everyday! So I was looking online and found this feeder? If not this feeder then do you have any suggestions?? Thanks!

Oh and I am looking for a inexspensive buy. The feeders at my TSC are really exspensive. So any cheaper prices? Also this feeder is 11 pounds cant tell how big it is by the picture....

What I like about it is you can hang it to keep dirt out and it has vanes in it that prevent scratching or billing out feed.
For most I make feeders out of 4" pvc pipe, sheet metal or whatever I have around. The problem with these is they tend to bill out feed causing some waste.

I like the second feeder, the Feather Feeder. The lid would keep the chickens out of it. Yes, some of them love to hop in, then they can't get out. Just my two cents.

I try to wait till I need other things like egg cartons, leg bands, waterers and combined shipping usually is less painful.

I made this...simple...cheap...and when full to top last several days for my 2 RIR hens and 2 BLRW roos. This one is not perfect looking as it was the first build but it works awsome! I did a smaller one for my bantam size birds. It is a 4" trough with a 3" riser

I just put an order in for a 12 pound galvanized feeder. I originally purchased a 3 pound plastic feeder like the top link, but my girls quickly figured out how to unscrew the little nut (I added a small washer too) and ATE both nut and washer!

I found that ordering online gave me MUCH better prices! I ordered through Amazon and with the purchase of an $8 game, got the shipping for free. I also ordered a set of 5 nipples to make my own watering "can", the whole order came to $40, but that is with $5 shipping on the nipples and the game as well as $18 for the feeder. Still, cheaper than spending $30-40 at the feed store for the exact same thing!

As for size, the top feeder is about the same size as the same company's 5 gallon watering dish.
