I can't believe how often I *don't* have to clean the brooder. With ducklings, after the first couple days it's twice-daily cleanings, including dumping the bedding & spraying down the brooder. The chick brooder is clean for days before I have to take anything out, and then it's just a matter of lifting the shelf liner, tossing it in the wash, and laying down new liner--I haven't even changed the straw that's under the shelf liner, not even once--don't need to--it's not WET!

The chicks are more skittish than ducklings, though, and noisier at night. Evens out I guess.
