Wow The Mn State Fair Birds Are Beautiful

    Last weekend I was at the Minnesota State Fair, and I was amazed by all the different poultry. I have never seen such beautiful Rhode Island Reds. They were so dark like a mahogany red. The buff Orpingtons were HUGE I mean HUGE!!! I would love to have a few of my own:D

    Oh, yeah, exhibition stock is humongous! I have three of those dark RIRs and a hen from RIR over exhibition-size Buff Orp hen named Meg. She is about 9-10 lbs, I believe.

    9-10 lbs!!!! wow... thats a huge hen. I have a couple cochins that are 10 lbs and they are big big girls.


    I had a couple darker RIR's a couple years, but nothing close to the deep red I saw at the fair. The hens even had the green color in their tail feathers like the roosters have. I have also had a couple hatchery RIR's and they look NOTHING like the exhibition birds.
