wrinkled eggs

At least two of my eight hens have recently started laying wrinkled eggs. The shells are not soft, just wrinkled. Any thoughts on it. Also, I threw some egg shells out in to the pen today and they went crazy over them. Could they be lacking something in their diet??

SOunds like they need calcium..... you feed oyster shells?

They could be. You could try to have some free choice oyster shells for them but if their new layers they will go through that phase while their little bodies try to get things right!!

Search for "infectious bronchitis" and look for pictures of the eggs laid by chicken exposed to IB.
