This is a 1 day old chick. She started looking to the ceiling of the incubator as soon as she came out. She does seem to be thriving but I want to make sure I'm doing the correct treatment. None of the other chicks in the incubator came out like this. Just her. I've been told to use Poly-Vi_sol with Iron - 2 drops. & Vitamin E. I've not isolated her - she's still in with the flock. Please give me your thoughts if I'm correct on treatment plan. Thanks!
You are not supposed to use the PVS with iron- you are supposed to use it without iron. I hatched a batch in March and I had a female chick do that. She's 3 months old now and shes normal. She used to sit just like the one in your picture. She should be fine, as long as you see her eating and drinking.
Can she make it go strate or is always like that, because i had a chick that did that when she drank or just to do it .
At the bottom of this first link it gives dosages for vitamin B1 thiamine, E, and selenium for treatment of star gazing, wry neck, encephalomalacia, which is a neurological symptom from vitamin deficiency, heredity, head injury, brain damage, and some diseases: http://www.browneggblueegg.com/Article/Crookneck/Crookneck.html http://partnersah.vet.cornell.edu/avian-atlas/node/600 http://oureggbasket.blogspot.com/2013/04/wry-neck-or-crook-neck-understanding-it.html
