I have two goofball chickens (golden laced wyandotte) and I've had them about 17 weeks know and I'm starting to wonder, when are they going to start laying my breakfast?!?

Hello and welcome to BYC. I agree with Top Rooster.
You'll find lots of info in the Learning Centre - https://www.backyardchickens.com/articles/category/learning-center.11/ and if you have a specific topic in mind, just type it in the search box - there's a wealth of information on past and present threads.

Each week, various topics are discussed, which can also be a great resource - https://www.backyardchickens.com/a/topic-of-the-week-thread-archive

You may wish to consider joining your state thread as it will put you in touch with other BYC members in your area - http://www.backyardchickens.com/t/270925/find-your-states-thread#post_3239224

Welcome to BYC! That's kinda young to start laying. Often pullets don't lay until 24 weeks or later in some cases. While some chickens - usually egg laying hybrids or breeds like the Leghorn - do start laying that early, most don't.

It's good to have you with us!

Hi there :frow I'd say they are a few weeks away from producing your breakfast still.
Welcome to BYC!
We are glad you joined our flock.
This video should help you find your way around.

My oldest pullets are about 20 weeks, including a Wyandotte, and aren't laying yet, but I think she is close. I also have a GLW that is a little younger and hatches about March 1 and I think she is a long way off. Hopefully we both get breakfast soon! I don't think our birds are abnormally behind however.

The so much for all of the answers I'm guessing they'll start at about 22 weeks maybe?how do they know to lay eggs in the nesting boxes because as of right now they sleep in a nesting box sometimes. Here's a great free tip for nesting box liners, if your hen needs to lay an egg, scoop up some dead pine needles they work great and there free!

Nesting boxes should be lower than your roosts - best not to have poo in the there, once they begin to lay.
