I have just started my on line of Welbars. so far 50 chicks that are totally black, black with a little white on top, and black with a lot of white on top. they are my first round of chicks and only 2-3 weeks old so we shall see where we go from here.

    Sent you a PM also.

The black chicks you can cull now to save on feed, trust me, they will get out of hand, especially after the third cross we were spending $100 a week on feed, because I didn't want to cull until I was sure. Main thing is looking for the white spot when going about it this direction.

Keep me posted and pictures are always nice to see. I wish I had taken more with the chicks.

Some updated pictures of the project Roosters and some variances in the color.

Started with GLW over Barred Rock. Then followed up with a backcross of the F1 male over GLW hens. The silver gene in the Barred Rock also gave me silver in the process. So ended up with some Silver and Gold hens and the males are currently carrying a S/s Silver and Gold. These are the results of the backcross.

Not extinct, well the bantams are still available in the UK and Europe from my knowledge, the large fowl may be non-existent. This is still a project here, but was hoping some from Europe would show up as well.

Thanks for all the help Marvin. I appreciate the conversations on genetics and the countless pictures you have looked at.
