Ya know that expression about how underneath, ducks are paddling like

    you-know what? And how that's supposed to mean that if you want anything out of life, you have to paddle like that too?

    Like a true subject-matter geek, I've always hated that expression. Because all duck owners know it's not true--under the water, ducks are just as cool, calm, and collected as they appear above the surface. But I don't think that means we can't learn something valuable from them:

    So to re-write the saying properly, it should read something like this...

    "Sure that duck looks serene; but on land he's got to preen like (this spot left intentionally blank)."

    I always enjoy a good twist on an old saying, and a person who doesn't swallow things whole!
