    I live in the tri-cities wa was just wondering where the best place to purchase chicks besides the obvious feed stores. are their any local hatcheries in the area with a good diversity of breeds ? thanks yall

    Well I ordered some on the Internet this time it in the future I would life to buy straight from a person / hatchery but I bought. Buffs orp , australorp, naked neck and golden comet five of each I hope I pick the correct breed for my geographical location ? Thanks for the link :)

    Buff Orps are good.... Hatchery stock is more production then breed standards so they will not be as heavy well bodied as they should be.
    Golden Comets are just a sex linked production breed should lay very well.
    Australorps are a bit flighty from my experience but again hatchery stock tends towards production rather then breed type/standards.
    Never had any naked necks so can't say on those.. :D

    should be fun though :D
