YOUNG broody?

    alright,,heres dumb question # 6342564
    can a hen go broody BEFORE it lays an egg?
    i have a 4 month old RIR that since yesterday layed on the other hens eggs ( i have 3 hens lay in 1 nest [​IMG] )
    i thought at first she was just "practicing" but she's been laying on the eggs and golfballs since yesterday,, and will NOT leave,,,hehe [​IMG]

    I heard someone else on here say their hen went broody before laying her first egg so it must be possible.

    I'm guessing it doesn't happen very often though.

    hehe,,,thanks ,,,, at first i thought she was sick,, until i finally got her to move and she was laying on them eggs,,haha [​IMG]
