I have been researching a lot about chickens. I used to have a small flock years ago and I am so excited I am moving to where I can have a few.......At first, I wanted to get some day old ones to raise, then the practical part took over so now I am wanting to know how young can I purchase hens where they are just about to start laying ? I can wait even a month or so but I want some eggs soon. May die tomorrow LOL...Really though need some advice. Thank you all [IMG]

Your best bet is to look locally on CL for pullets. I'll grow out chicks to 12-16 weeks and sell them for $20. My customers are just like you and don't want to have to wait 5 months for eggs. Check out your state thread. Might get lucky and find someone close with a few extra hens. Some hatcheries and breeders will sell started pullets but shipping will exceed the cost of the chicken.
