    I've got 5 month old Lavenders, Two breeding pairs of the same age. Eggs are the same size as the silkies eggs. But they appear fertilized. Can I attempt a hatch or should I wait until they are normal sized?

    You can hatch those, but new laying hens' eggs to tend to less likely to be fertile.

    So it's worth a shot. I'll see what happens. Not like they're a huge egg for eating anyway lol. Thank you

    Are you talking Lavender Orpingtons? My girls are over a year old and their eggs are still much smaller than I expected. The girls are physically bigger than my golden comets, but the comets lay much bigger eggs. Heck, my bantam cochins lay bigger eggs than most of my LO's. [IMG]

    @Shannon bo @WVduckchick
    do you only have LO's?
    are you covering your LO's w/a LO?
    do either of you have Black O's.
    how are you increasing your LO flock?
    thanks
