A friend just bought a young rooster (under one year) and she is concerned that he is too rough on the hens.
The Roo tries to mount and pull them down but the hens walk away and tuffs of feathers are pulled out.
She thinks he is going to make her hens bald.
The Rooster's breeder, culls any aggressive birds.
I told her it is just because he is a young rooster and the hens are not submitting. When he gets a little older and the hens get used to him it will be alright. It is typical chicken dynamics.
What else can I say? any suggestions?
