Breed Information, Comments, and Experience with breed:

This breed was developed in the state of Rhode Island in the 1830s. The following breeds were used in their makeup, Malays, Cochins and Brown Leghorns. The single combed variety was admitted to the APA's Standard of Perfection in 1904 and the rose combed birds a year later. The cock will weigh about 8 1/2 pounds and the hens run about one pound lighter.

Beautiful birds. RIR's are probably one of my fav's.
I am looking into purchasing some chickens.. I am interested in a chicken that is a good Layer, not broody.. Are these guys good eaters?
I have two they are good free range chooks good layers not broody like other chooks I have maybe once or twice a year the will go broody and they LOVE scraps:)
