Hi everyone,
I have raised poultry in the past and i am ready to start up again.
I am interested in raising american heritage breeds that will tolerate snow in the winter.
The holland breed is a breed i would like to breed, however i have not had any luck finding breeders. Any suggestions for other breeds is appreciated. Looking for rare breeds that are losted with the livestock conservancy . I am in northern arizona.
Thank you

Welcome to BYC. Glad you decided to join our flock. Alaska Backyard Chickens has a list of recommended breeds for Alaska at http://akchickens.org/getting-started/recommended-breeds/. If they can handle Alaska's brutal winters, they should be able to handle Northern Arizona snow with no problems. American heritage breeds on this list include Plymouth Rocks, Rhode Island Reds, and Wyandottes. The small Rose Combs of the Wyandottes are virtually immune to frostbite. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have. We are here to help in any way we can. Whatever breeds you decide to get, good luck with your flock in the snow.)

Thank you for the info. I will check out the site and look at the breeds. I really appreciate all the help. This is a great site and i am sure i will have more questions. Thanks again :)

Glad you joined the BYC flock
