Starting over again using an old coop which hasn't been used or cleaned out for about two years Just wondering how clean it needs to be? Do I need to sanitize or what ? Today is my first day here at backyard chickens and excited to get chicks again, I am from Illinois.

Hmm, you probably need to do a through cleaning. Here is a link:

Hello there, and welcome to Backyard chickens! Happy you joined us! I would thoroughly clean it out and scrub everything down with a vinegar and baking soda mixture, and put in fresh pine shavings. Also, check out the learning center, it has tons of great links and everything you need to know about starting out with chickens! I hope you enjoy BYC as much as I have!

Good to get a fresh start. Thank you for joining us at BYC. You will also want to repair any damages that may have occurred over the years.
