Adding to the flock

I have 2 leghorn pullets and a rooster (Easter chicks) and I would like to add to my flock. My 2 have not started laying yet, but I think one of them is close. Her comb and waddle have turned bring red. Any suggestions? Know of anyone in the north Texas area that sell pullets. I really think I only want to add 2 to 3. Thanks, Joules

How old are the pullets? You can expect eggs around 18-22 weeks old, at least 4 months.

You could try posting in a thread thats dedicated to your area to see about sales.

In the meantime when you add them; go slow. I can not stress that enough. Take a few weeks to let them see each other without touching. Then slowly introduce like sized birds. Make sure there's lots of escape routes because they're going to need to figure out a new pecking order. If you add you have the right idea with two or three. (not that you can't do more) I think it's easier to add more than one chicken at a time so they have a buddy.
