This morning I heard hawks screeching so I went out to find that a hawk has killed one of my khaki campell ducks. The hawk tried to take off with him be he couldn't so dropped my bird, the hawk only eat the neck. all of my birds are free range with out fencing and I have standard size chickens one pekin duck and some bantams
so my questions are : how can I prevent hawks from killing my birds?
now that the hawks have killed one bird will they come back for more?
can I get rid of the hawks?
my birds have been free ranging like this for over a year and I don't know why the hawks are just now doing this? I worried about my bantams the hawks seem not to fear humans as well. your feedback will be appreciated.

The hawk will be back. The only sure way to protect against them is a covered run. As long as you free range your birds are fair game for any predators, not just raptors.
