One of my cochins layed this white egg today. Normally she lays a pinkish egg. I've never seen this color. Should I be worried?

An egg spends about 25 hours in the hen’s internal egg making factory from the time the yolk is released until she lays it. Most of that time is in the shell gland, getting the egg shell put on. At the very end she adds some color to the egg. If for some reason the hen gets excited and lays the egg a little early the color may not have had time to be added. You occasionally can get a pretty much white egg from a flock that normally lays darker brown eggs but it’s fairly rare.

Also the longer into the hen’s laying cycle you go, the lighter the egg shell color normally becomes. I’m not sure why but that is the norm for my flock. Just before they molt some are laying some really light eggs.

From your post I don’t see any reason at all to be worried.
