This is in answer to all those who need a little more than pictures.
I will detail my progress as it transpires.
Speckled Hen, the clutch hutch is what inspired me. Simplicity. Great job.

OK, to begin we must have a floor. I choose a wooden floor rather than dirt. If you want a dirt floor then this will be the only deviation in your similar coop design. Also, my coop must have the ability to be moved, so I will place it on runners and wherever I place it I will simply block under the runners to level it.

In order to simplify everything, I have started a page for the coop.

You can follow my progress there and then discuss or ask questions here.

Thank you so much, Mikeeeeee (how many 'e's is that, LOL?). I think this simple design is perfect for those who are not experienced builders. I look forward to reading the installments on this thread!

Hey Mikeeeeee, I'm gonna follow you on this one except I only have cull wood to work with which means the longest piece is on average 4 ft. My thought was to make 4, 4 x 4 squares and nailing them all together. What do you think?

let me get home tonight and I will post a picture of what you can do to make longer pieces from shorter ones.

It will save you some money.
time is free.

10 e's.

It will be a simple build with not a whole lot of intricate cuts.
Anyone with a skil saw and hammer should be able to knock this one together.

I nailed together my floor joists this afternoon, but it got too dark to snap a picture.
Tommorow is church night, so I wont get to take that picture until Thursday.

Keep it coming Mikeeeeeeeeee! I'm plotting the return of feathered ones to my yard, and your plans are wonderfully easy to follow. Thanks for the details- I can read the ones in the books, but it's so nice to see explanations by a real person instead of a technical writer. (the engineering degree was wasted, so that part of my brain is now on "permanent hiatus
