Tori's (Mrs. AK-Bird-Brain) girls have been laying up a storm! So she asked me if I would be willing to help her with an experiment and would I hatch some eggs for her if she shipped during cold weather? She hasn't been offering her eggs for shipping due to the freezing temps in Alaska and feared the eggs would freeze during shipping. So, I ofcourse agreed! Anything to feed my addiction, right?! LOL
So this morning I recieved a package of 18 eggs all the way from Alaska! I was a little worried about the eggs, since the side of the box had clearly been punctured through. I carefully opened it up, and lo and behold, she packed these babies sooooo well that NONE were broken! Tonight I am going to candle them to make sure none are scrambled, but for now they are nestled comfortably and resting in an 18 count egg carton.
Included in the box was a Hatch Tracker sheet. Tori already labled and numbered each egg before she carefully packaged them for shipping. She also wrote any pertinent information (like the egg was cold in the nest) on each egg and on the Hatch Tracker.
So the Hatch Sheet Key is as follows: LB=light brahma, BS=Blue Silkie, and MF=Mille Fleur (Cold)-found in nest-coop < 32 F
LB 1 61g 2/1 Emily Dominic veining with visible chick
LB 2 63g 2/3 Emily " veining

I will be setting these babies in the incubator tomorrow morning. I will be using an egg turner, and don't plan to open the 'bator except to add water if necessary before Day 7.
I'll keep ya'll updated on how it goes!!!
