I just got 11 indian runner ducks from McMurray this morning! I am soooooooo excited I can't stand it! I don't know how you are supposed to get anything done with this much "cute" in the house!

BTW _ what is that that you have on the bottom of the brooder as flooring? Is that sand?

Yes, that is sand. It seems to be working well so far. They are getting it in the water so I have to keep an eye on it and keep changing it to keep it clear but it is very absorbant and they seem to like it. I put the box of straw they came in inside the brooder under the lamp so they can get good and cozy for now. We'll see what happens when they start to grow!
 
Tell me about it! That one just keeps staring up at me like "Are you my momma?" every time I walk past the brooder! We weren't even planning on keeping any of the fawn & white, I just got them to fill the order. I see changes coming......

OMG... TOO CUTE. I wish I could have ducks... but I can barely get away with my bantam silkies...

OMG they are adorable! I recognize that box too--I've ordered from McMurray twice, and both times they've come in exactly the same box.

Your set-up is similar to mine as well, although I use a towel in the bottom of the brooder for the first few days, and then switch to straw gradually. You are going to be amazed at how fast those little guys grow!
