Saw this big beautiful cock for FREE on a local facebook farm & garden group... two hours later our girls had a seasoned Ameracauna rooster who is non-aggressive with people and other animals (cats, dogs, etc)! I'm thinking we have to get him a few more girls &/or build a little bachelor pad for him ASAP. Has one spur missing (long healed)? We shall eat all the brown eggs & let any ol' gal who goes broody to set out a clutch of blues! OMG, I'll have to quit my job and work full time toward cobbling together the second coop/run, nesters &,.. and... and... *wanders off absently muttering*

Easy exterior egg access... THANKS to BYC for inspiration! Above the egg door (and covering the wire front & side walls) is shade cloth screen. We live in a hot climate and want to ensure ample airflow in the hot months ahead. The screen also breaks wind and diverts rain, keeping our wire walled coop high & dry in the spring storms. Later we will replace the summer shade screen with a winter skin to keep the wind & cold out and keep the girls toasty warm.
