Can ducks be happy not free ranging?

We are going to add onto the current kennel this spring so they will have more space. The hawk sat in the tree all day staring at our last lonely little duck. No more free ranging.

    Hawk killed my duck

Just an FYI, hawks will fly into a kennel. We had a hawk inside our duck kennel this weekend. It killed our remaining female inside the kennel. In fact, it took a great deal of effort on our part to get the hawk out.
