Duck pooped out egg yolk (no shell)

Her and the drake eat one lettuce heart a day usually. And ohhhh, I had seen something about the layer feed being enough so that’s why this week i figured she’d be fine. I’m getting the calcium to start tomorrow since today she’s getting a shot of it. And then I’ll leave out oyster shells too...

Duck pooped out egg yolk (no shell)

Mallard, about to be 1 year old on the 14th. She started laying on Christmas Eve morning. She laid 9 then stopped. She had an infection that was treated a month later when we found it. The vet did x rays and didn’t see any reproductive damage. She started laying again after that, 6 eggs (one day...

Duck pooped out egg yolk (no shell)

My duck is in her first laying season, she lays 6-9 eggs and then stops for a month or so. She just started again this past Sunday. She laid Sunday, Monday; she didn’t lay Tuesday, Wednesday; then she finally got the egg out Thursday (yesterday) and now today she pooped out a lot of egg yolk...

Muscovy first laying season and panting

This is her first laying season; she’s still not super consistent on timing. She started off in the morning and then got a little bit later in the day. She first laid 9 eggs then stopped for a month and a half. Which she ended up having an infection which was treated a few weeks ago. So, she...

Muscovy first laying season and panting

Ah ok. Ya, she doesn’t seem to pant during the day really when I see her. Just at night, because she’s laying down. So I think it is from the weight gain. But I was just concerned a bit because it’s all night that she’s heavy breathing so she doesn’t seem to get much sleep at night for now...

Muscovy first laying season and panting

Hi, The same thing is happening with my mallard. She increased her eating almost double and gained a lot of weight in the last week that she started laying again. Now all evening/night that she is mostly laying down, she is panting heavily. I think it may be from the weight gain but am unsure...

New layer stopped laying. Normal or concern?

Ok this is good to hear. I had assumed they go broody only if the eggs are left there and then stop laying once they have their clutch. So it’s good to know now that I can expect her to probably stop and go like this until the season is done. That’s a relief 😅 thank you!

New layer stopped laying. Normal or concern?

Yes, The first two days she used her nesting box. Then the rest she would hold until about 11 am and find somewhere in the yard to lay when i would leave for second. But now there hasn’t been any eggs anywhere, and she isn’t looking for a spot like then. And for the rest of the day they are in a...

New layer stopped laying. Normal or concern?

My mallard hen is 7 1/2 months old now. She started laying for the first time on Christmas Eve morning. She laid everyday for 9 days (later in the day the last two days), and then stopped. I know it’s normal for the time and days she lays to fluctuate while her body gets used to a cycle, and...

    House Ducks? 😍🦆

Hi, I just came across this thread, and I made the same mistake with my 2 ducks so they do not want to wear the diapers. I was wondering if you were able to get them to wear them eventually or still no?👀

New behaviors (normal?) and loss of head feathers

Ok good to know! Everything else seems fine. The loss of feather don’t seem like the typical places for mites from what I’ve read, and they have so much water time that I doubt it’s that. So I will just assume it’s some minor molting as u said, especially since the other two behaviors I wasn’t...

New behaviors (normal?) and loss of head feathers

That’s really interesting. And Little says thank u for the compliment (Big is the boy. We started calling them that since we didn’t know the gender at first. Then found out they already started learning their names 🤦🏻‍♀️ So little and big it is)

New behaviors (normal?) and loss of head feathers

ok thank you. I was able to edit the post and include the videos! :) as far as the molting, so they can molt on their first year? I kept seeing mixed information and wasn’t sure which was right. For the other two behaviors. Hopefully the videos help. The chewing motion has reduced a lot the Last...

New behaviors (normal?) and loss of head feathers

So I have a few questions/concerns (I apologize for the lengthiness in advance. Just wanted to get it all out in one post): - I have one male and one female mallard who are 4 1/2 months old. Two weeks ago the girl started doing this weird ‘chewing the air’ motion (I have a video of it but u...
