My ducks are mostly related and I would like to introduce some WHs in. Mama Cayuga is the matriarch and her acceptance of the ducks would be needed so I was thinking about giving her some ducklings when she goes broody. Not sure she will buy it though

I have wondered if this is possible with ducks, you should keep us posted with how it turns out? I think ducks are probably a wee bit smarter than chickens and harder to fool

Also one of them sound male. My gals make that higher pitched squeak/wheeze but that lower sounding one is kind of sounding drake-y. Any way to get them riled up a little? That's when I find the honk really comes out. Mine will honk for peas

All my mama raised ducklings behave the same way to me as the rest of my ducks. They learned their behavior from the group. They are friendly but wont let me handle them with out fuss.

Mine like peas, compost piles, rain, puddles, escaping their yard, and talking to each other. I will say in my limited experience, they tend to be braver when there are more than 2, but then duck politics comes into play. They are very personable, smart and seem to form tight bonds with each...
