In the facebook group of Backyard Chickens, you'll see a lot of people hating about crossbreeding. And yes, this is my project. Right now I am figuring out what's the best percentage of ayam and silkie to be crossed with an australorp. I will soon find out once they produce chicks.

A lot of people were hating on other breeders that cross their chickens with other breed. Here is my opinion: As long as you are treating your chickens right (by providing their basic necessities) and breeding to create chickens with distinct characteristics like for more meat, eggs, color...

Recently, I have lost 7 chicks (worth 7 dollars each) because of a dog. Out of the 17 chicks, 7 were eliminated by a dog and I can't get over it because they were supposed to be sold to my customers. I am curious, what do you do to overcome these events? I am having trouble in sleeping because...

yes, the other one in the third pic (that gets blocked by the cage in the image is a female, that is my pure ayam cemani girl). All of the pictures only focuses on the same chick that i cannot determine the gender, ayam cemani x chinese silkie.
