Introducing baby chicks to 6 week old chick.

Typically it’s best to start mingling them when they are closer to the same size. If you could find someone who had grow outs around Elles age they would Prob be stand offish at first but are able To defend themselves. The young new chicks can prob start mingling around 5-6 weeks. They are...

Determining sex of 6 week barred rock chicks

Will probably need individual photos to help you to be able to tell you exactly. But the photo with 3 chickens. The one in the middle looks like a cockerel. By the comb development and color. It’s more defined than the others. But again hard to tell without individual Photos. One with head...

    Mystery Bantam. Feathered Legs

I got it at tractor supply. Someone told me that “Hatchery quality” silkies don’t always have black skin. 🤷‍♀️ Either way, I’ll be a happy camper if it mostly resembles a silkie. I’ve wanted one! I’ll be even happier if it’s a pullet! 😅

    Mystery Bantam!

That makes sense! Hopefully it’s a pullet! 🤞🏻 I was looking forward to it being a Silkie! ☺️

    Mystery Bantam!

That’s what I was thinking too. But silkies have black skin and black beaks and legs, and this little One doesn’t. But I am thinking it could be Silkie mix. About the only thing it looks like. 🤔

    Mystery Bantam. Feathered Legs

I don’t think. The feather texture is super unique. Not like any of my other chickens. Def seems a little like the Silkie feathering. Alothough I had never heard of that type. Super cool Looking!

    Mystery Bantam!

Was in the Bantam Bin at TSC, so could be anything! Silkie mix??? Have ruled out Faverolle and most other feathered leg chickens. Any ideas about 4 weeks old.

Isa Brown Chick.. Is she sick?

Pictures? Sometimes we refer to this as failure to thrive. But it doesn’t mean she won’t grow and end up fine. Sometimes just at a much slower rate. Pictures or video would help.

    Out of starter feed

As far as the food goes. You can use an all Flock food. With 20% (or more) protein and they will be just fine. (I like Purina flock raiser @ Tsc ). Also, you don’t need vitamins everyday. They also need just plain water. Chicks are often fully feathered at 6 weeks. And yes, with...

    Ameracauna chick, pullet or cockerel?

I was leaning toward cockerel. But wasn’t sure. He was already named Ranger but I guess I needed confirmation. Thank you. Also, I got him and the “white” one with him at Tractor Supply as Ameracauna. But, I know TSC is not always accurate, and neither are hatcheries. I know EEs can lay a...

    5 Weeks old/Sexing Questions

I’m seeing 4 cockerels. In waddle/comb comparison. Especially considering the clear Pullets in this pic.

    Ameracauna chick, pullet or cockerel?

I’m not so disappointed if it is. It was straight run so I figured I was in for a few. Just curious. 😊. Thank you. I only got 2 cockerels out of 4 so that’s a pretty good margin for straight run. 😂😅

At what age do chicks learn their names?

I agree, I have never had a chicken actually learn it’s name. So you name it what you’d like! 😊.
