Mine act like it's crack. In fact, it's what I have in one hand to squeeze inside the main door of the coop/run area to distract them while I fill up their feeder, otherwise I would get mobbed!
Mine went BONKERS when I did this. They do a lot of running after whoever has something tasty in their mouth and snatching it away...I also got pecked when I gave these out, something they haven't done before or since!
My girls' combs got larger and turned redder, and when I would scratch their back or even get near them, they started doing that waddle and squat thing...I think they are telling me I'm their rooster...lol
This is about the time that the eggs start showing up, for me. I also bought white wooden...
I just found my first one...I have six girls, and two have red combs, so I'm pretty sure it's one of those. A perfect, brown egg. The only problem is that they are on Tylan until Thursday, and then I'm waiting two weeks after that to start eating the eggs. Drat! Oh well, so proud of them (her)!
I had the EXACT same issue with my pullets (one had the swollen closed eye and snot, the other bubbly eye and snot). I took one of them to an avian vet here in Raleigh, and I got (from them) terramycin ointment to put directly in the eye (for 10 days, twice a day) that was bad, and Tylan water...
