    Goat advice??? anyone have goats???

It should be fine as long as you dont get to many goats and plan to feed them and give hay. 2 to 4 goats would do well and they do need shelter from weather. Good luck

    Possibly adopting pygmy goats

It would be fine if your have horns also. But if yours dont have horns it could be a problem. Other than that it should go well. I would put them where they could see each other and then in about 30 days and no one is sick or anything let them in together. When I get a new goat I always separate...

    Goats!!!!!!!

I agree with the 2 above me as I have Dairy goats and the sooner you get them disbudded the better as they forget fast....goats and horns dont work as they get stuck in the fences and also with small children it can cost them their eye or anything by accident. I have Dairy goats and I disbud at...

Different temperature for Still Air Incubator?

I have a still air and run it at 99.5 and have Great success with mine. When the temp changes I know its time for them to start hatching. I watch mine closely and havent had any problems with it staying at 99.5 . I dont run it higher. Thats how I use mine.

    Raw Milk Herdshare

I agree with the others. I have Dairy goats also and dont sell my milk I let people make donations and I tell them its not for human consumption. If they drink it after they leave here...not my problem, I cant control them. When you set a price you are liable andit can come back to bite you. I...

New "goat parent", worried about one of my does

I have had goats for yrs and when you move a goat it upsets them. When this happens you worm them when you get them home and then it about 10 days you do it again and then in 10 day s do it again with a different type wormer. Sounds like she misses her herd mates and it does take time. If she is...

    Male Goats...

Its getting to be Rut season and depending on the type of goat you have she may go into heat alot. He is getting to the breeding age also. Should I be worried about a small goat bite?

I have goats and this has happened before ...I would just keep it clean and tell her not to let them nibble on her finger again. This can be a bad habit and hard to break. I dont let mine nibble on me as the older they get the harder they BITE!

    Guinea Fowl

I personally dont let mine raise the keets as sometimes they leave with them only to return with less. So when I see them with keets I get the babies and raise them as it makes them more friendly also. Yes mine do flock parent as there are usually 4 or more adults with the keets when they do...

are they loud all the time?

Mine are loud also when someone or something distrubs them. They are not fond of strangers and the best to let you know there is a snake or someone in your drive. You cant talk in the coop when most of mine are in tehre if they dont know you. My Grandson was here 2 weeks and man did they ever...

How do you tell a Guinea's gender????

Theses pictures are both makes as the wattles and horns are larger. My females have small horns and wattles and they make the Buck-wheat sound also. Yep with my straight run I got a few yrs ago it was about a 50-50 split also.

Tips on introducing a new goat....

With the age difference they are going to have a pecking order fight to see who is boss. As long as it dont get to bad I would let them duck it out for a while and then give the little guy some time to recoop. I would also before that have the little 1 in a pen where the other 1 can see him and...

Congrats on the new goats and they look wonderful and I agree with Keren on the chicken feed issue as goats will eat it and it can kill them...not good... Watch out goats are like potato chips you can have just 1....I started with 5 and that was yrs ago and now have over 40...very addictive...

What is this Colustrum thing I keep hearing?? Goats

Yes if you bottle feed feed them whole cows milk or goats milk....replacer will starve them to death and most stores will sell you the wrong kind and its to high in protien and they need milk to curdle in the tummy for any benefit and grow. I dont use replacer as I used it the first yr and talk...
