We hatched several chicks- several breeds/mixes this spring. Too many cockerals. The polish cockeral was the last to get wattles and crow. The tail feathers look like a rooster. The head feathers are more "dreadlock" than "bouffant".

I used the Borax method. It dried it within a couple of days. I changed out the Borax after the first 2 days and replaced with fresh. I only saved the hackles and saddle.

I would transfer the hen, chicks and eggs to a large cage. We are on our 3rd broody hen. We had to transfer the first mom and babies/eggs to a cage in the house - they hatched the end of March and our weather was quite cold. Check out the broody hen thread. Enjoy

Are these from Tractor Supply? In Michigan last year the feather footed were a mix of Bantam Brahmas and D'Uccles(mille, white, and porcelain). We saw a list of what our possible options were and just guessed.
