    Prolapsed vent or strange egg?

A month later and she's doing well. The 4 new girls are integrated into the main coop now. I can't tell who is laying and only get one or two pullet eggs per day, but there has been no further prolapse. I just thought I'd update here in case anyone finds themselves in a similar situation. There...

    Prolapsed vent or strange egg?

Day 9: she's still going strong. Spent last night in the little coop with her little sisters and the day out in the yard with everyone. Doing well, I don't think she's laid an egg yet and I will be keeping a close eye on her. I've stopped the calcium supplements and oil of oregano now and...

    Prolapsed vent or strange egg?

Day 5: she is doing well overall. I had to pop it back in once yesterday and she had pecked it again, so it was bloody, but much shorter than before. It hasn't come out at all today and when she pooped there was only a little blood. She spent most of the day outside in a bottomless dog crate on...

    Prolapsed vent or strange egg?

Update day 3: after inserting the protrusion 4 times it finally stayed in overnight last night. Unfortunately, yesterday as I was preparing her bath she pecked at it, so it will need to heal and hopefully not become infected. I have her on oil of oregano as a natural antibiotic, calcium...

    Prolapsed vent or strange egg?

Thank you. I just went to check on her before bed. She had pooped but I'm not sure if it came out of the end of that it was kind of all over. I suspect it is the opening for the large intestine tho, not good I think. There is a dark mass on one side of it. After cleaning and applying the...

    Prolapsed vent or strange egg?

Wow! That was a delicate operation. I'll see how she is tomorrow, I'm still researching to see if I can find something that looks similar. The most similar thing so far does seem to beer intestines, but this would be the end of the intestines somehow...

    Prolapsed vent or strange egg?

Thank you, she seems fairly calm, it's quiet in there and I've turned out ther light so it's dark and she'll rest. I'll give her fluid and food in the morning, another Epsom salt bath. There was a soft shelled egg near her in the coop which I think was hers, that may have been her 1st egg...

    Prolapsed vent or strange egg?

There's a dark mass beside the longer fleshy part now. I think these photos show it more clearly.

    Prolapsed vent or strange egg?

Thank you! The part hanging down is very firm, red close to ther vent and paler at the end. The clot fell off after the bath. I did give calcium but it doesn't have d3 in it, I will give that separately when I check on her shortly. Thank you!

    Prolapsed vent or strange egg?

This afternoon I noticed one of my 19 week old Welsummer pullets had something red hanging out of her vent. I immediately brought her into my laundry room to keep her away from the other chickens. After searching BYC I haven't found anything that looks exactly like what is protruding from her...

Easter Egger Sexing "tips and tricks" *Pictures Included*

I'd say the yellow one with the dark legs (#2?) is a girl based on the feather pattern and also the one with it's next sticking out looks like a girl (#3?). The first one has a big comb, but the feather pattern looks a bit girly...the last one looks like it will have a boy feather pattern...

Supposed to be ISA brown pullets!

I bought 4 ISA browns from our local feed store, believing that they were all girls, I think they all looked the same colour when we got them, the buff one was a little lighter, but not silver like a red sex linked male chick should be (I think!). Now at 5 1/2 weeks one of them looks way...
