    New chicken run

    Thanks for the reply. The dogs wont be able to get near the chickens, they will be secure next door out of sight. They just bark a bit here and there. The trees have their branches cut up to a decent height. So the lowest branch is about 8 foot high. The run is metal framed. It will be built up...

    Foxes = death

    Live in the outskirts of a city in the UK. So as far as im aware, not many preditors around other than foxes. No large birds, definately no racoons or anything similar. No snakes. Have seen a fox around before so just presumed it was one that got in and did the damage. I only had 3 and to...

    Foxes = death

    Went away for a few days for Christmas, left the neighbour in charge of the chickens. He said he would feed them, make sure the water is topped up etc. Not sure if he didn't secure the run correctly or if a fox got in by forcing itself through a gap between the fence and the side of the run...

    Frostbite?! Help please

    Thank you both. I worried that as its a small coop, holes might create a draft rather than help with ventilation. I will sort holes out in the morning and keep on top of cleaning out the poop more often.

    Various questions

    Barbara. I was not aware at all. Thank you so much for letting me know. I will look into upgrading the coop tomorrow. Not sure where indoors i could keep them, or if it is fair on them to keep them enclosed in such a small area for a month solid. In relation to the mud, by 'dry vegetable...
