I'm sorry your neighbor is feeding the deer and trying to make pets of them. Wild deer can carry several disease pests, ticks and fleas and such. Not to mention being attractive to carnivorous animals. Who will in turn go after your fowl.

If you have men or pubescent males in your life, have them urinate at the place where the fox took the birds. Also get some hair from the local barber shop and sprinkle it there and various other places around your property. The urine will keep the fox away, the hair will keep the deer away.

And ducks can stay in the coop with the chickens, they don't use the roost so there's plenty of room! Enable, enable, enable ......

Cow poop eggs? Oh horrors! (Extreme sarcasm here) They would surely faint if they saw what my girls eat in a typical day : maggots (from scratching in rabbit manure) , frogs, toads, lizards ,not to mention any and all bugs they can find, weeds grass, sand small rocks, plus their feed.

Some questions please : 1. Are ducks harder to process than chickens? 2. If so, how much harder? 3. Are they cooked the same way? 4. What about eggs? I've heard they have a stronger flavor, and can be rubbery, is that true? 5. Would singeing be best to remove all the pin feathers and down?

Not wrong at all! I have several roosters. But I'm in a rural area and roosters are fairly common.

My grandparents were sharecroppers. As were their parents. They didn't own slaves, in fact were barely above slaves themselves.

I'll be processing some older birds soon. I do have a pressure canner. I've never pressure cooked chicken before. Does anyone have a really good recipe? Also, I've never done chicken and dumplings before. Help!

There's a coon loose at my house. :( It ate one of my chickens and the eggs she was sitting on. I'm so upset! DH will be setting traps tonight!
